Long Creek is full of folks willing to give. The Community Club is happy to be part of these amazing charitable community support services!

Mobile Food Pantry

A partnership between the Golden Corner Food Pantry and the Long Creek Community Club began in November 2022. This endeavor has been quite successful with Community Club volunteers working with the Food Pantry to distribute food to local families in need.

How it works:

A box truck gets loaded with food to to feed approximately 40 families and is driven to under served locations. The truck is loaded at the Golden Corner Food Pantry facility in Seneca early on Saturday mornings. Then volunteers drive the truck to distribution sites in Mountain Rest and on to Long Creek the same day. Food Pantry clients sign-in and bring necessary documentation.

The food distributed is meant to last one to one and a half weeks. This mobile delivery is designed to supplement what people are able to get with their earnings and with food stamps.

A portion of the mobile food is donated by local grocery stores and food drives organized by area churches, schools, scout groups and others. The rest of the food is made possible with money that is donated by individuals and civic organizations. Golden Corner Food Pantry purchases most of the milk and eggs, some of the produce, and almost all of the canned goods and other non-perishable foods.

This on-going effort takes place the third Saturday of the month.

Free meals!

On some Saturdays, one of our favorite local restaurant owner's, Miss Katie Moore, kindly brings prepared plates from her business Brasstown Creek Gathering Place BBQ. She is known to generously donate delicious plates of barbecue to all the food pantry clients during the monthly delivery. Thank you Brasstown BBQ!
